On being a mommy

Today I wandered if I will ever eat, use the restroom or shower in peace again. Completely selfish I know.

Ready and Waiting

After months of anticipation,
we're having a girl!

Well, Alanna and Russ are. I'm just the aunt ... ready and waiting. My little brother is having a baby. Wow. The seasons of life.
Funny, I remember rubbing my own mommy's tummy with Mother's Friend when she was swollen with child ... ready and waiting for my little brother to arrive. I remember Daddy pacing in the hospital waiting area, wiping the sweat from his brow. It was the middle of August 1984 ... the Olympics, Mary Lou Retton, Ronald Reagan and Russ Jr., a boy. He, to this day, second to my own children of course, is the most beautiful baby I have ever seen! I mean, the boy has dimples! To me, a soon-to-be first-grader, he was MY baby. The baby I had been ready and waiting for trained me to be a nurturer. Since his arrival in this world, I knew I one day wanted to be a mommy. What a blessing he has been to my life!
So, here I sit ... ready and waiting ... to wrap his little girl up, sit out on the porch swing on a sweltering Louisiana night and rock her to sleep to Linda Ronstadt's "Blue Bayou" just like I did her daddy.
Yes, I'm tickled pink and smitten ... already.

One Last Hoorah!

Just probably hours before the good ol' dryer took its last breath, Brother discovered a new hiding place. This made me think of two things: as a child, hiding in the dryer once to avoid a spanking and the second that Amelia NEVER, EVER once did this when she was smaller. Another difference between girls and boys?
But Brother got his last hoorah, and then mommy got hers.

That's right, mama's got a new washer & dryer!

How to Eat Fried Worms

First, you have to taste test the dirt, of course.

A Work in Progress

Brother has been informing us for a while now when he has messed his britches, so Daddy and I are changing gears and getting into potty training mode ... again. And yet another difference in raising girls and boys. Don't worry. I have Brother's permission to print this. He was mighty proud. And although he didn't actually do "it" this time, he did the time before. Yes, sir, that's my boy!

Reason I Love My Husband No. 2

When we ever do get to go on a date,
he makes me feel like it's senior prom all over again.
(well, the one I should have had)

One of the Reasons I Love My Husband

He knows how to fly a mean kite.
And he teaches our children to do the same.

Scrumptious Spring Sweets

Lots of treats to sink your teeth into! My sorority sister Kandy over at The Bozeman Boys passed along this great swimsuit Web site: www.limericki.com! Finally, cute and mommy-body-conscious. And a friend is fashioning these little bites:

Bella Bits, the youngster's version to her Bella Donnas:

Cute as pie!
The Bits aren't up on her etsy shop yet, but they should be soon! www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6932285.
